Quantized Energy and (Planck Einstein Relation: E = hv)

When Max Planck has experiment and conclude that energy is release and absorb by atom in certain fixed amount called quanta, Albert Einstein proceeded with work of Max Planck a step further, on his own observation, come out with a conclusion by saying that  radiant energy are also quantized, he called this energy discrete energy pocket and photons. Albert Einstein said that wave and stream particle are source of electromagnetic radiation (light for example).

The relationship that occur between Planck and Einstein, is that the equation relate energy to frequency. This happen to be the first quantum mechanics equation. Quanta mean that energy come in multiples form with h fundamental constant. The equation is E = hv.

h = planck constant with value of 6.62608 x 10-34Js

v = linear frequency

This relation was first used to explain black body radiation in 1900 by Max planck, the explanation of this relation is that matter energy are quantized, the relation assumed to be perfect at that time as result compatibility with the say that matter is made up of oscillated particles. Also a discovery that electron energy is given by discrete levels also suit well at that time with Planck’s relation.

Einstein proposed in year 1905 that this same equation should be used for photons, he made suggestion when he is explaining a photoelectric effect. When a light is incident on a metal plate, it produce current electron on a condition that the frequency of light is higher than some amount of value. This value is link to energy required to remove an electron from metals called work function. There is only ejection of electron the light energy correspond to discrete electron binding energy. So there is confusion, and light quantization was difficult fo people to believed compare to quantization of energy level of matter particles.
