There is palpable fear over the safety of Senator representing Kogi West in the Senate, Dino Melaye, after he was attacked this morning in Gwagwalada, a suburb of Abuja, on his way to Lokoja for a court appearance.
It will be recalled that Melaye’s aides and supporters had raised the alarm on Wednesday over an alleged plan to abduct the Senator by people believed to be sponsored by his political opponents in Kogi State.
Melaye’s whereabouts is said to be unknown after the attack on the Abuja – Lokoja highway.
His aides who witnessed the incident said Melaye’s car was trailed and eventually blocked at Gwagwalada area council by a Kogi state governments numbered Hilux van and a Sienna space bus.
“As we speak, his whereabouts is unknown. Nigerians must come to his rescue. This political vendetta has been carried too far,” Musa Shuaibu, one of his associates told journalists.
The reason behind his kidnap is not known and at the times of filing this report there is no any evidence where he has been taken to.
