Care of laboratory balance

Weighing balance is very delicate instrument in the laboratory, as such it need special handling and maintenance. Often, every instrument come with manufactural guidelines, of which the laboratory weighing balance is not an exception. Each weighing balance come with manufacturer instruction, so it is recommended this instruction to be follow in the have effective and lifelong working weighing balance. But even with that, there are general simple rule that must be adhere to for care and maintenance of weighing balance, the rule are;

1. The weighing balance should be position in free vibrational surface, and a drought free area.
2. The weighing balance should be level with help of spirit level through the adjustment of the screw on the stand.
3. Set the weighing balance to zero before begin weighing.
4. When using pan weighing balance, always endeavour to use forceps to add or remove any weight.
5. Always avoid weighing directly on the top of the weighing pan balance area, always used weighing container.
6. Always keep the pan of the balance from chemical and other thing by making sure the brush the pan after used.
7. Make sure to always put desiccant inside the cabinet of the analytical balance
8. Make to check the accuracy of the weighing balance often.
9. Always cover the weighing balance when not in used.
