THESTING ANAEROBIC JAR
There are two purposes which can cause anaerobic jar not to function properly, which are;
Leakage jar: when there is leakage in the jar, there is possibility of the jar not to function normally. These conditions can be tackled by checking all valves, gasket, and the body of the jar, in case there is any damage on the part of the jar, then it should be fix or another jar which dose have leakage should be replaced.
You can check for leakage of the jar by placing a piece of cotton wool soaked with ether inside the jar clamp the lit shut, place the entire jar in a bucket fill with warm water, if there is leakage on the jar a bubble off gas will be escaping from the leakage point.
Improper functioning of the catalyst: a catalyst must be removed after any anaerobic cycle or incubation and then dry it at a temperature of 160ºC for 90 minute, because when these is not done, cold catalyst are toxic by water or sulphur made up of glass have limited life span of about 30 used.
