Muhammad Buhari did not sacked Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele. According news trending online.
Their is a report trending on social media and blog that president Muhammad Buhari have sacked CBN governor, and he has already make an arrangement of Aisha to replace him.
A source from the presidency have come out to debunks the allegation, saying that the information is not true. He said according to the Nigerian Constitution, president did not have the power to sacked CBN governor without the approval of National assembly.
CBN Act 2007
Section 8 of the CBN Act of 2007 said that governor of CBN can be removed by the president “provided that the removal of the governor shall be supported by two-thirds majority of the Senate praying that he be so removed.
He further said that Godwin Emefiele tenure as a CBN governor will expired June 2019, as such he cannot be removed when his tenure is not expired.
