Like other language in the world with their peculiar tradition of given out there daughter for marriage, So also Ebira Okene people of Kogi state, has their special tradition of given out their daughter for Marriage.

The main tradition is what they often demand from the suitor, the husband to be.

In Ebira tradition before now these are often demanded

1. OZEMEYI

2. OTANUVOGE

3. EKEHI ADOZI

4. EKEHI ONYIOZI

5. EKEHI ARONWU

6. EYIZA IPAPA

7. EKEHI UHU. And So On?

But now are days Ekehi Uhu (Virgin fee) is no longer demanded, nobody care to even ask about it, that lead to a big questions why is the Virgin fee no longer demanded?

I can still remember vividly during a traditional wedding in those days in Ebira Land when our traditional specialist use to demand for the following monetary items below :
1. OZEMEYI 2. OTANUVOGE 3. EKEHI ADOZI
4. EKEHI ONYIOZI 5. EKEHI ARONWU 6. EYIZA IPAPA 7. EKEHI UHU. And So On?

This Particular EKEHI UHU (VIRGIN FEE) use to be given to a particular Woman who took care or look after the bride. But, this days no body even talk or ask about the Virgin Fee again. I’m asking Our able Mummies & Daddies in the house what was the problem.”
