…as Apostle George congratulates Governor
The Akwa Ibom State Territorial Council of The Apostolic Church Nigeria has fixed Sunday 31st March, 2019 as thanksgiving day to celebrate God for the victory of Governor Udom Emmanuel in the just concluded 2019 Governorship election.
This was made known by the Uyo Field Superintendent of the church, Apostle Ime George, Ph.D in a statement to newsmen in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital.
According to George, the thanksgiving service which was approved by Apostle Aniekan Udoiyak led Territorial Council is in appreciation to God for answering the prayers of the church and Christians generally for a peaceful and successful election.
“The thanksgiving will be held in all branches of the church across the state and will also feature special prayer for Akwa Ibom State, Governor Udom Emmanuel and Nigeria,” the Field Superintendent said.
While congratulating the Governor for emerging victorious in the March 9 Governorship election, hence returned re-elected, Apostle George said he is grateful to God for answering the prayers of His (God) children by making the elections, not only peaceful but also successful against the threats of war and bloodshed.
He attributed the successes the election to God whom he described as the ‘God of Justice, equity and fairplay’, noting that through dedicated prayers of faithful of the Church, particularly, during the national crusade of the church held in Uyo, God has given the Governor divine victory.
The cleric however charged the Governor to carry everyone along in the task of building a strong, united and an economically viable state and to let go every act of mudslinging, character assassination and hate speeches against him during the electioneering campaign in other to sustain the prevailing peace and progress in the State.
“Governor Udom Emmanuel’s victory at the just concluded poll is victory for Akwa Ibom people, therefore, other contestants must put on the spirit of good sportsmanship by conceding defeat and join hands with the winner to move the State forward because in every contest, only one winner can emerge”, George reiterated.
