- All satellite has source of power, mostly solar cells and batteries as Bus for storage. New design include the use of fuel cells.
- All of them has metal or composite frame and body usually known as Bus. The bus holds everything together in space and provides adequate strength to survive the lunch.

At the very list, most satellite has a radio transmitter/receiver so that the ground control crew can request status information from the satellite and monitor it health. Many satellite can be control in different way from the ground to do anything, from changing from the orbit to reprogramming the computer system.
- All satellite has an on board computer to control and monitor the different system.
- All of the satellite has attitude control system which keeps the satellite pointed in the right direction.
