GOVERNOR OKOROCHA IS NIGERIA’S SECOND HIGHEST PHILANTHROPIST

The Imo State governor, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha has emerged as Nigeria’s second highest philanthropist. In a recent rating released by Nigeria’s foremost monthly publication, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress was only topped by Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote whose Dangote Foundation is rated as having impacted most on the people, followed closely by Governor Okorocha’s Rochas Foundation, which has over the last two decades taken more than 20,000 vulnerable children off the streets and afforded them the most qualitative education possible.

The Publication title; TOP 10 PHILANTHROPISTS BEHIND NIGERIA’S LARGEST PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS, the publishers also enlists Mohammed Indimi, Folarunso Alakija, T.Y Danjuma,Oba Otudeko, Emeka Offor Jim Ovia, Tony Elumelu and Subomi Michael as those who have committed a substantial amount of their personal wealth to philanthropic activities that have impacted positively on the society.

Governor Okorocha whose Rochas Foundation dedicate mostly in free and qualitative education for children of the poorest of the poor across Nigeria, had recently expanded the reach of his Foundation to accommodate at least five vulnerable children from each of fifty five countries in Africa. The Foundation also invests in healthcare provision for the poorest of the poor and mentoring youths to success in many areas of life.

As governor, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha had institutionalized his humanitarian interventionist principles by being the first and only governor in the country to introduce and sustain free education from Primary to Tertiary education level. He has also, through the Imo Foundation, ensured that government regularly assists indigent citizens to access the best possible medicare, while helping thousands of others set up small scale business investments.
