HUDSON-ODOI WON’T BE RUSHED INTO NEW CHELSEA DEAL AFTER FACING 6 MONTHS OUT

Callum Hudson-Odoi will not be rushed into signing a new Chelsea contract despite facing 6months on the sidelines with a ruptured Achilles. Having suffered the injury during Monday night’s draw with Burnley, the teenager will have surgery to repair the rupture this week. A ruptured Achilles can take as long as 9months to recover from, but Hudson-Odoi is hopeful he can be fit to return inside 6months.

The news comes as a huge blow to the youngster, who had finally started playing regular Premier League football under Maurizio Sarri. Chelsea are in the midst of trying to convince Hudson-Odoi to sign a new long-term contract. German clubs Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund all have a firm interest in the forward — but it remains to be seen whether any will follow through with a bid in the summer now.

Chelsea are growing increasingly confident that they can persuade Hudson-Odoi to pen a new deal, which could be worth as much as £100,000-per-week. But it is understood Hudson-Odoi will not be railroaded into signing an extension. He is entering the final 12months of his contract and can leave for nothing at the end of the next season if he fails to extend. And while a new Chelsea contract offers him security at this uncertain time, the youngster does not feel it’s necessary to commit straight away.
