Kogi Government denied owing workers 38 months salaries

Kogi State Government has denied the allegations making round various social media that they are owing workers 38 months salaries.

Kogi Government debunked the allegations through the Chief of Staff to Governor Yahaya Bello, Hon Edward Onoja which was labeled to be the one that said Kogi government is owing workers in the state for 38 months.

Onoja who gave the clarification yesterday been Saturday 27th of April 2019 in Lokoja, said the news ground saying that he tender apology to kogi State civil servants of over unpaid 38 month salaries was not true.

He point out that Kogi State Government is not owning any legal civil servants such amount of unpaid salaries and arrears, further said most of the people crying that their salaries were not paid are the civil servants that were affected during the screening exercise due to certain unverified problems.

Onoja who speak yesterday at One Day Interactive Meeting organised by the Better Kogi Movement, topic titled: “Quality Leadership and Youth Inclusiveness in Governance,” blamed some fraction of the media of “constituting a major national hectic that need urgent solution as the infiltration of falsehood and propaganda is becoming alarming”.

In his clarification on the issue, he said that during the civil service screening exercise in the first year of the Yahaya Bello administration, maximum of 10,000 civil servants was found guilty of various offence, such as age falsification, certificate forgery and other criminal related issues that warrant dismissal, imprisonment and among other measures.

He said as result of good gestures of Governor Yahaya Bello many was forgiven and some were given soft punishment by the state government that was now being taken for granted.

He then warn the general public to be mindful of the information they believe and spread on the social media as it was their responsibility to verify such information so as to confirmed the authenticity before spreading.
