Fresh Attack; 5 soldiers confirmed dead and over 30 missing as Boko Haram attack army base in Borno

No fewer than five Nigerian soldiers were said to have lost their lives and over 30 still missing three days after Boko Haram Terrorist attack army base, disclose by security sources on Monday.

According the statement from the military officers, heavily armed men believed to be from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), the IS-linked faction of Boko Haram, attacked the base in Nigeria’s northeastern Borno state on Friday 27th 2019 .

A military officer who disclosed to AFP, said “We have recovered five bodies of soldiers who paid the supreme price fighting the terrorists,”

“Search and rescue teams are still looking for around 30 more soldiers who have gone missing since the attack,”

ISWAP fighters was on Friday lunch heavy attacks on Army base at Mararrabar Kimba, 135 kilometres (85 miles) from Maiduguri Borno State capital.

The fighters, were said to have come in over dozen of them driving in a pickup trucks with heavy machine guns mounted on the back of the druck , with three armoured tank accompanied them and others fighter on motorbikes firing on the base.

Some soldiers ran into the bush to save their lives.

Another office who speak on the development said,

“There are high hopes the missing soldiers will be found — or will find their way back,” he added. “We are not thinking of the worst scenario.”

No official respond from the army yet during the time of filing these report.
