Mr President, Nigerians don’t sleep with their two eyes closed anymore and for a long time now, letter to Buhari

May 10, 2019.

Muhammadu Buhari GCFR
President & Commander In-chief of Armed forces
Federal Republic of Nigeria .
Presidential Villa
Abuja.

Your Excellency.

STATE OF THE NATION.

Mr President, please permit this open letter for the reason that it will get to you faster than the laid down official route.

I am a concerned Nigerian, activist and whistleblower.

Let me start with the political quagmire in my state, Imo where elections in two senatorial districts out of the three senatorial districts are yet to be concluded / resolved to a logical conclusion by INEC several weeks after the 2019 general elections ended.

INEC should have been done long ago with these elections while the controversial outcomes where one exist should be sorted out at the election tribunal and courts.

The stories coming out on Imo West and North senatorial districts of Imo state are nothing but sickening and a monumental shame.

INEC is seemingly playing out a script against the wishes and mandate of the people of Orlu and Okigwe senatorial zones and this is not acceptable.

I am therefore constrained to urge Mr President to call INEC to order and save the people of Orlu and Okigwe senatorial districts the continued and unjustified trauma. They must not be denied their constitutional rights of having their Senator in the 9th Senate from June 6,2019.

Mr President is bound by his oath of office to ensure that the people of Orlu and Okigwe zones enjoys senatorial representation from the very day the 9th Senate is inaugurated.

Like many Nigerians I am deeply worried about the low integrity rating of INEC , political architecture and character of Political parties and the integrity of their primaries. Evidently lack of internal democracy and impunity remain the bane of these political parties and the biggest threat to democracy and our democratic ethos. I hereby suggest and advise that Nigeria must be cleansed of these and rebrand her political processes and architecture or else we wont be out of the wood and rogue political culture for a long time to come .

INSECURITY!
Mr President, Nigerians don’t sleep with their two eyes closed anymore and for a long time now. Kidnapping, armed robbery and insurgency are the order of the day with Nigerians losing all hopes on your government to secure their lives and properties. So much money has been approved and released to security agencies to fight insurgency yet we are still where we are.

The energy being deployed by police to go after prostitutes and pen/paper criminals can be better utilised to curb kidnapping, armed robbery and insurgency.

Our ARMY are commendable and must be encouraged. The salaries and welfare of the police must be improved upon. Training programs for the police must be improved upon.

Police extortion, harassment and embarrassment in the South East and South South is monumental and a thing that must be looked into with a decisive political will to stop the malfeanse.

This is another form of criminal discrimination against the people of South East and South South in the Nigeria project. The character, behaviours and attitudes of the Nigerian Police in the North is quite different from what is obtainable in the South East and South South. Why?

Nigerians are suffering never like before and the hardship is becoming so unbearable. May I urge Mr President to take practical steps to end the ravaging poverty, Nigerians are sick and tired of lip service.

No country on earth is naturally blessed like Nigeria but bad and rogue leadership is our bane. When will Nigeria be a country of our dreams??
