Lagos State gov., Akinwunmi Ambode, shunned Lagos deputy-gov elect, Obafemi Hamzat’s father’s burial events on Monday 13th May, 2019.
The deceased King Olatunji Hamzat was the godfather of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Ambode’s godfather.
Politics pundits are concluding that Ambode once again has shot himself in the foot politically by his absence at a ceremony where they suggest he should play the host.
At the event were Asiwaju Tinubu; Lagos governor-elect Babajide Sanwoolu; former commissioner Muiz Banire; Senator Ganiyu Solomon, and other Lagos past and present officials majority of whom are Tinubu’s men (and women).
However, some have the belief that Ambode is playing his cards well; he’s being strategic about his immediate political future as he chose the Oba Hamzat occasion to visit President Buhari in Aso Rock, who they argue is his only and last hope for survival in politics.
Do you think Ambode is playing a smart survival game?
