Reports reaching us from Bauchi says on Friday, 10/5/2019, Muslim terror group (popularly called Sarasuka) attacked and killed a Christian man and burnt 6 houses belonging to some Christian widows.

According to our source, the incident started three weeks ago when the thugs, who from Muslim communities, Gudun Hausawa and Gudun Fulani went in to attack Christians at Gudun Saiyawa, a majority Christian community.

The thugs eventually killed a Christian woman in the attack, a situation that led to the formation of a vigilante group in Gudun Saiyawa by Christian youths. The vigilante group then apprehended two of the thugs and handed them over to the police.

However, with this development, the Muslims got a wrong impression that Christians were planning a reprisal. They then came out in violent rioting and killed an innocent non-Muslim boy on his way home from school.

The Christian vigilantes then invited security men who arrived the community and took the Christian Village-Head of Gudun Saiyawa. They also invited leaders of Gudun Hausawa and Gudun Fulani in an attempt to reconcile the three communities.

Unfortunately, the Christian Village-Head was attacked in the presence of the security by the Muslims. He is currently in a state of coma in a hospital.

Meanwhile, after Mosque prayer on Friday, the Muslims still mobilized and attempted to burn down a Catholic church in Gudun Saiyawa but they were met with stiff resistance from the Christians. They then went back to Gudun Fulani where Christians are few and killed a Christian man, macheted some passers-by and burnt 6 houses belonging to some widows and orphans.

Security personnel, who couldn’t respond at the time the Muslims did the attack, as according to them, they were not given orders to respond later received orders to make arrest. However, they arrested 40 youths from the Christian community. The youths were taken to police station but were later released as they found out that no Muslim was among those arrested.

Continue to pray for peace for the communities. Also pray for healing for the Village Head, comfort for the families of those who lost their loved ones and God’s provision for the widows and orphans whose houses and property were burnt.
