Imo PDP Tussle: Appeal Court Upholds Ihedioha’s Victory As Flag-bearer

A Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, Imo state capital, has upheld the judgement of the Federal High Court which dismissed a suit filed by Senator Samuel Anyanwu, challenging the primary election that saw Governor Emeka Ihedioha as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in the last Imo governorship elections.

Delivering the judgement, the presiding judge Justice Raphael Agbo, says that the plaintiff Mr Samuel Anyanwu did not show enough evidence to convince the court on the prayers he sought that he should be declared the authentic winner of the PDP primary elections in October 2018.

Justice Agbo said the court could not establish the fact in the plaintiff’s claims that the primary election was marred with irregularities, he therefore dismissed the suit for lack of proof.

Senator Samuel Anyanwu a governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party in the last elections had approached the court seeking to nullify the victory of Ihedioha and be declared as the authentic winner of the PDP governorship primary election last October after claiming that the primaries was marred by irregularities.
