APC faulted postponement of Bauchi 9th Assembly Inauguration

The Bauchi State Government has extended the date of it 9th State Assembly Inauguration to Thursday.

Alhaji Umar Gital,The acting Clerk of the Assembly, disclosed the information via statement issued to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi on Monday.

Gital in the statement said it is regrettably by the state government in terms of inconvenience caused due to the postponement of the inauguration slated for Monday.

Report by NAN said that the 8th Assembly was dissolved on June 14th 2019, of which it is expected that inauguration of the 9th assembly will take place on Monday.

Gital, who confirmed that the inauguration would now take place on Thursday, at the state Assembly Chambers, said that “all inconveniences are highly regretted, please”.

Reacting to the postponement by the opposition party, the state Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), faulted the action of the ruling party,

Alhaji Bako Hussaini, the APC secretary in the state, said Nigeria’s constitution did not issued power on state governors to postpone the inauguration, stating the action of the Governor is not Democratic.

He said “The APC leadership in the state will not fold its arms to allow the ruling party to do anything contrary to the Constitution of Nigeria,”.

He further said that APC have the majority in the 9th Assembly of the state, with 22 members, elect under thw party against the ruling PDP’s which have only 8 members.
