Elders of All Progressives Congress Kogi state chapter has shun Governor Yahaya Bello second term bids and Backed Usman Jubril, a former Chief of Naval Staff as the candidate of their choice for November 16th Governorship election in kogi state.
The party leaders said they are sure that Jubril will lead the party to victory in the forthcoming governorship election.
They condemned Governor Yahaya Bello four years stay in office saying that his performance is underscore.
Endorsing Jibril by the party leaders, may likely make it difficult for Yahaya Bello to scale thorough the State primary election.
A report from the Nation disclose that the elders’ stands on Jubril come from the report of the screening by the committee that was set up by elders and leaders of the APC in the area in Kogi west.
We gather that the elders described him as the hope of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The elders committee party headed by Alhaji Sule Iyaji had nineteen members, who spoke one after the other. Iyaji was said not to be present at the time of the voting.
The elders said that as of the president Muhammad Buhari system of government, APC enjoys the love of the people of Kogi.
Meanwhile complain bitterly of the performance of the Governor Yahaya Bello, who is seeking to win the APC ticket for re-election. According to them, the party has acquired bad reputation from the governor.
the APC elders said.“Therefore, for APC to still continue to remain our darling party in the state, the people of Kogi state will appreciate a change during the primaries of the APC.
“And, that is why we have all agreed after strenuous search for a new leader, to decide that we will give our support to Admiral Jubril, come rain come sun.
“And, we urge the national leadership of the APC to do the needful by ensuring they give the ticket to Admiral Jubril, so that the main election will be a walkover for the APC in the state,”.
They added that being a former Chief of Naval Staff, Jubril possess the quality that was absent presently in the management of the affairs of Kogi state by yahaya bello administration.
It is sure that Jubril may become the choice of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) following warnings by members of the APC in the state that if Governor Yahaya Bello is chosen APC would loose kogi State.
