Dr. Maikanti Baru, am leaving the corporation in July as a retired civil servant

The outgoing Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru, said he was leaving the corporation in July as a retired civil servant.

Baru said this in Lagos shortly after he and nine others were inducted as fellows of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAE) yesterday

According to him, it is compulsory for all civil servants to retired once he/she get to 60 yrs.

He further said if president Muhammad Buhari is still in need of his service he will gladly accept it.

Baru said “I am leaving NNPC based on the system in civil servant as I clock retirement age of 60 on July 7, 2019. There is nothing you can do. You must retire once you are 60. If the President is need my service I will graciously accept it”,
