The group that visited President Muhammadu Buhari today are mere opportunists and great impostors, the Afenifere Spokesman told News Men.

President Buhari on Tuesday met with some Afenifere members at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Tuesday.

Those at the meeting included the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Pa Ayo Fasanmi, Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye, former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba.
Others included Former Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, Pius Akinyelure.
Also at the meeting were Chief Kemi Nelson, and Laoye Tomori.

The Afenifere visitors led by Pa Ayo Fasanmi demanded for true federalism to be enthroned in the country at the meeting which started around 2.58pm at the Council Chamber.
But prominent Afenifere leaders including it’s spokesman, Yinka Odumakin and Olu Falae were absent at the meeting.

Speaking with Elombah News correspondent, Mr Odumakin said “every intelligent Nigerian cannot remember hearing their voices in all the challenges the Yoruba have faced in recent time.

“They are all APC members who should have called themselves so if there is decency .
“They are not different from all the funny groups like Imeri group to provoke the Yoruba.
“Its unfortunate that some of these people who played noble roles in the past are doing this in their departing years.”

The five demands of the Afenifere leaders were read by Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye.
Other requests of the group that met Buhari today included security, education, youth employment and power supply.

He said: “We seriously recommend clinging to the spirit and letters of our federal constitution. This is one sure way of achieving the desired goals of unity even in diversity, mutual respect, tolerance and giving true meaning to the opening phrase of our constitution that is, “ we the people “

“We will be a greater nation if we sincerely practice true federalism, think and act as Nigerians rather than as champions of the smaller units we were born into. Our big size is an asset worthy of preservation.

“Good examples of big size, hard work and prudent spending are the USA, China and India. It is not with violence or hate speeches but with mutual trust, self-respect and tolerance that we will speedily achieve the lofty destiny of the great country, Nigeria, ” he said.
