With immense gratitude, let me use this opportunity to register our heart-felt gratitude and sincere appreciation to our Former Governor, Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura, for this positive transformation.
Over the years, Keana as a community had suffered long period of government neglect. The presence of government was not felt at all as the age long problems of lack of good road, water, electricity, and health facilities among other basic social amenities continue to plague Keana community. People of the area have on their own been engaging in community self-help projects.
As a result of the long time neglect, there were insinuations such as no good road could ever come to Keana. No one knew that this assertion was held simply because the past governments decided to deliberately neglect this area. Many people have suffered the consequences of lack of accessible road and many have passed on with the question: “When would Keana ever have an accessible road?”
The past governments have played series of politics with the construction of accessible road network, especially on Keana-Giza road. They sought for the votes of Keana people; they got the votes but did not fulfill their promises. The people of Keana were perplexed but not despair until when God in His infinite mercies sent in Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura.
It is true as further proven by the Architect of Modern Nasarawa State, Senator Almakura, that when the right person rules, the people rejoice. The way and manner in which Almakura came to power showed he was God-sent. There was clear evidence beyond all reasonable doubts that God’s hand was at work because he was initially deprived and denied the mandate under a different platform but God providentially gave him being the rightful owner under another platform.
To the best of my knowledge, based on available records and facts on ground, Almakura’s transformation of Nasarawa State was unprecedented in the history of Nasarawa State governorship administration. His good deeds speak volumes for him. He came in and met a lot of wrongs in government, he proceeded to discontinue such wrongs. One of his legacies that liberated him as a governor and liberated the entire Nasarawa State from the shackle of ‘contract award without execution’ in Nasarawa State was his policy of PROJECT INSPECTION AND SEEING IS BELIEVING.
Unlike his predecessors who used Nasarawa State’s funds to reimburse their godfathers through unexecuted contracts, Almakura in his own God-given wisdom identified this cankerworm that had eaten deep into the fabric of Nasarawa State politics which made Nasarawa State to suffer from the shackle of poverty and underdevelopment and said an emphatic NO to the devilish and unprogressive practice of godfatherism and unexecuted contracts that were the order of the day in Nasarawa State’s politics. This decision of Almakura was a step in the right direction.
Sincerely speaking, giving the previous prevailing conditions in Keana and Nasarawa State in general during the period of the past governments, Keana people least anticipated what they are seeing on ground now from Almakura. People concluded that no good road would come to Keana. However, the coming of Almakura has made us to believe further that there is time for everything; God does not forget His people; God’s time is the best and that God uses people to liberate people. To us, the people of Keana and Nasarawa State in general, Governor Almakura is God-sent. He is really the right person simply because he makes us to exceedingly rejoice as we have never done before. His actions show that there are still trustworthy people, there are still people who keep promises and people who have the interest of the masses at heart.
Nobody who knows Keana town, Obi-Keana, Keana-Giza-Kadarko roads before, who now sees the completed road network who would not pray fervently for the former governor; even his enemies, whether they like it or not, would have to reluctantly congratulate him for his conspicuous projects in Keana and Nasarawa State in general! His performances in the entire Nasarawa State are real evidences of service to humanity.
No doubt, his developmental projects in Nasarawa State will go before him, speak for him before man and God. He has not disappointed us in any way rather he has made us proud. More power to your elbow my Senator with positive difference. A former governor who earned his senatorial seat through hard work.
Our loyalty and support for Almakura’s govt pays. Now we can open our shoulders and walk the streets of Keana without questions from wailers.
