The first ranch was created for Nigerians before 1960 it was called Obudu cattle ranch, it has the giant head of a cow. It was developed in 1951 by M. McCaughley, a Scot who first explored the mountain ranges in 1949. He camped on the mountaintop of the Oshie Ridge on the Sankwala Mountains for a month before returning with Mr. Hugh Jones, a fellow rancher, in 1951. Together with Dr Crawfeild, they developed the Obudu Cattle Ranch.
The Fulanis have occupied Obudu for years they have one of the biggest Fulani communities. Please answer the following questions –
1) Can you give us the number of Herdsmen clashes in that area?
2) Can you tell us if there’s a Fulani local Govt Area in Obudu after over 50yrs?
3) Can you tell us if Obudu has a Fulani emirate?
4) Can you tell us if the fulanis in Obudu cattle ranch have islamised the area?
5) How many deaths from Herdsmen clashes, banditry and kidnapping have been reported in Obudu cattle ranch?
Can you see why your fears are childish and baseless!!??
And why are you worried about another man’s headache? States who want Ruga have APPLIED TO JOIN!!!
Has your State being forced to join? Has any land been seized from your State?
Has the Federal Govt compelled your State to enlist in the project? Didn’t Benue pull out!!?
Has a State of emergency been imposed on Benue State?
Why shouldn’t Govt support and invest in the project? When government builds motor parks for NURTW why have we never shouted foul? Is that not private business for road transport workers!?
My advise is that you guys stop this blind mob attack. There is so much unemployment in Nigeria! During the 40’s , 50’s and 60’s Nigeria was one of the 1st ten agricultural nations on this planet – there was food security, high employment, peace and prosperity. Nigeria was so great countries like Malaysia were our student – they came to study our methods. Today we are a nation of beggars, Malaysia is today a highly developed nation. They have crude oil but they still rely heavily on the Nigerian seedlings that started their agricultural revolution in Oil Palm!
Our flag is green white green because that was the destiny and dream of our founding fathers. Nigeria ruled the world. Nobody was talking of Fulani, Yoruba, Igbo – our fore fathers made this nation great in groundnut, rubber, Cocoa, palm oil and Cotton – we were no 1 in cash crop on the African continent. Our ancestors were united they were PATRIOTS they worked the fields and pasted the name of Nigeria internationally. My father and my entire family studied in the UK and America because of our grand father Elder Samuel Ikiddeh’s oil palm mill. That past generation were not a generation of beggars! They loved their nation and they loved to work the fields. Anything that will bring those glory years back i will support.
Today we are tribal beasts – everything is squeezed through our xenophobic tunnel vision. We rather Nigeria die as long as we can protect our wretched poverty stricken hamlets. With hundreds of unemployed cultic Indian hemp smoking youths!
Silly narrow minded unpatriotic Nigerians!
