Kogi university lecturer slump and died, because of non payment of salaries

Another Kogi state University lecturer known as Dr Jamiu Abdullahi, has slump and died over non payment of salaries.

His death was confirmed in the hospital, after he slumped, while awaiting his test result.

Our correspondent learn that late Jamiu Abdullahi, was a lecturer at the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies’ of Kogi State University Ayingba.

Late Abdullahi collected his salary last in February 2019.

Lack of many make him was unable to seek medical treatment of the High Blood Pressure (HBP) which led to his death.
“The family of the deceased could not take him to a better hospital because of lack of fund. The deceased had nothing in his account as he has not been regularly paid by the State government.

family member said.“It is unfortunate that the drug that was prescribed for him by his doctor could not be bought because we could not raise anything. And the situation got worsened yesterday at about 2pm when he died,”.
Kogi State University Public Relations Officer, Mr Jacob Edegbo who confirmed the death of the lecturer disclosed that he has since been buried according to Islamic rites, but denied that his death is not link to non payment of salaries in the state.
He said ”Late Dr Abdullahi has been sick for some time. When he went to the hospital for check-up, before the result came out, he gave up the ghost”.
