Barr Mohammed Abdullahi (Magajin Garin Uke) is a native of Uke village in Karu LGA of Nasarawa state. He hails from a royal family of Uke Chiefdom and he is a Prince. He is the chieftaincy title holder of Magajin Garin Uke while his brother is the present traditional ruler, Yakanajen Uke of Uke Chiefdom.
Barr Mohammed Abdullahi is a household name in the Nigerian politics, particularly in Nasarawa state. He contributed to the struggle and the subsequent creation of Nasarawa state from the old plateau state in 1996 during the military rule of late Gen Sani Abacha. He also contributed Immensely to the return of democracy from the military rule in 1999.
He is a grassroots politician who has impacted positively in the life of many. He was one time a Deputy Chairman of Karu LGC during which he performed to the expectations of the electorates. He has served in so many capacities both in public and private sectors. Two times Attorney General of Nasarawa state government and Commissioner for Justice under Alh Abdullahi Adamu and Sen Umaru Tanko Almakura’s regime respectively. He served at the federal government level as the Secretary to the then NICON board and later becomes the Special Adviser to the then Executive Governor of Nasarawa state, H.E, Sen Umaru Tanko Almakura for four (4) consecutive years from 2011-2014 before he went to contest for the House of Representatives election in 2014/2015.
He contributed to the implementation of the national minimum wage in the state in 2011/2012 and also worked towards the emergence of the All Progressives Congress, APC in 2013.
Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura found him worthy and appointed him as the Secretary to the government of Nasarawa state, a position he served between February 2017 to May 2019. During his tenure as the SSG, a lot of changes, progress and developmental projects and programmes were influenced, witnessed and recorded. He ensured the building of a new befitting SSG’s complex to it’s completion.
In 2018, He was the ‘Man of the Moment’ as it was clear for him to win the Senatorial seat for Nasarawa West but he later stepped down for Sen Abdullahi Adamu as a result of the intervention by Sen Umaru Tanko Almakura and other critical stakeholders. He played a very strategic role to ensure a hitch free and successful 2018 APC primaries and victory for Engr Abdullahi Sule, both at the primary and secondary elections subsequently in 2019.
At the general elections, he was also the APC agent for the Presidential elections (President Muhammadu Buhari) and returned him victorious for the first time in the history of Buhari’s elections in Nasarawa state.
He is the politician who is moving with the global trend of virtual administration. He is being described by many as the ‘Digital Politician’ in the country. In no distant time, Nigeria will soon adopt the modern trend of digital administration for a better country as we cannot afford to be left behind under whatever influence.
He is a lawyer, philanthropist and a politician with principles and difference. He is friendly, accessible and ever ready to help where necessary. He is very loyal to whom it may concern and gives due respect to his superiors and the subordinates all the times. If you go close to him, you will understand him better. Those who have had an opportunity to mingled with him genuinely have their testimonies across boards.
