AJAOKUTA STEEL COMPANY LIMITED; HOW LONG ARE WE GOING TO WAIT?

By E.A JONATHAN.

Some times, I wonder if others are tired of the society we live in like myself.
From epileptic/no power supply, poor or no health care system, substandard educational system, dilapidated structures, colonies of our unemployed youth on the street, failed institutions, just to mention but few.
It’s no longer news that industrialization is the only sure way to easily foster economic growth in a country. In fact, it’s the backbone of world’s greatest economies.
About forty years later, the Ajaokuta steel complex which is said to be 98% complete, and not only capable of setting Nigeria on the path of economic development but also able to sustain her has been neglected by the successive administrations of the Nigerian government. You know why?
The reason is not far-fetched; they just don’t care about you and me.
It is said that, one should never underestimate the power of the people, as there is no limit to what they can achieve, if only they will come together and speak in one voice. And I ask, how long are we going to let our differences and sentiments hold us hostage as a people from collective progress? Isn’t yet time to come together? Remember, the day of reckoning will come and our deeds will determine whether history will be kind to us or not.
I’m therefore, using this medium to humbly call on every kogites and Nigerians at large to demand for the immediate and speedy completion of the steel complex. Before I drop my pen, I wish to ask again, Ajaokuta steel company limited; how long are we going to wait for its completion?
Have we not waited enough?
