Democracy unlike military dictatorship is the government of the people, for the people and by the people. It is a government that is expected to respect the wishes and feelings of teeming electorate in critical areas of interest irrespective of religion, tribe and political persuasion.
However, the common practice across states in Nigeria is political monopoly, few people want to remain within the corridor of power at the detriment of the majority and people who are also capable of doing the right thing if given equal opportunity.
The essence of leadership is to identify the talent, potential and capabilities of people at different time and assigned responsibilities for the benefits of the majority not for the political jobbers or the few who wants to exploit the electorates.
The looming danger of recycling political appointees create eneminity, lost of confidence,trust,anti-party activities and protest votes at the primary and secondary elections leading to party or candidate defeats.
A stitch in time save nine!
