Edo residents have commended the Judicial reforms embarked upon by the Obaseki led administration.

Obaseki on assumption of office as Governor promised a reform of the judiciary system and listed some key areas in which his administration tends to focus on reforming the sector.

Decongestion of the prisons, the multi-door courthouse, family court, renovation of the high court complex, construction of new courts, construction of model judges’ quarters and an industrial courthouse are some of the reforms currently witnessed in the State.
A legal practitioner in the state, Barr. Luke Okun has commended the State Governor for providing the enabling environment for justice to be dispensed in the state.
“What is amazing is that with the completion of the industrial court, industrial disputes would be settled in the state and litigants will no longer need to travel to Ondo state to hear their cases, obviously Obaseki’s reformation in the judiciary sector would turn Edo State to a Judicial hub”
According to a retired judge in the state, “I cannot remember the last time we saw such a reform going on in the judicial system in the state. The renovation of the High court complex and construction of model houses for judges would no doubt assist in the easy dispensation of justice in the state”

The retired judge praised Obaseki for his commitment to spearheading these awesome reforms.

Mrs Esohe Solomon, a civil servant in the state ministry of justice said the ongoing reforms in the judicial sector was the beginning of a new dawn in the state.
She insisted that a good strong reliable judicial system is also key to economic development.
“for trade to take place and businesses to build strong working partnerships there must be support from a system which not only dispenses fair and objective hearing but a prompt judgement as well.
Like the economy, a fully developed judicial system with prompt trial leads to greater trust in the system and contributes to political stability and economic development.”
