Kogi Guber: Senator Oseni Yakubu speak, after he was attacked today at Ihima, say Violence is therefore an aberration!

Earlier today, I was in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area to give succour to my supporters who came under series of heavy attacks from oppositions for supporting me in the build up to the last Senatorial election. Unfortunately, they became victims of their political choice, an appalling situation that is highly antithetical to the dictates of democracy.

I have always maintained that any leader who knows his onions should adopt the view of the renown Indian anti-colonial nationalist, Mahatma Gandhi who once declared that “I object violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary, the evil it does is permanent.”

My view of leadership is the capacity and will to rally men and women to a common purpose and character which inspires confidence. Violence is therefore an aberration!

The beneficiaries of my gesture were excited at the fulfilment of my promise to mitigate the losses they had to incure for supporting me. I equally urged them to embrace peace in all their dealings with people even those from opposing political affiliations. To be human, is to act human, and to act human is to stand up against all forms of inhumanity. Therefore, be firm with your political choice even in the face of flagrant persecution and blackmail which we witnessed in the last senatorial election.

Ladies and gentlemen, November 16th is by the corner when we shall all troop out in our numbers to vote Governor Yahaya Bello and his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for second term in office. Beware of the antics of some political jobbers who are bent on heating up the polity. Don’t allow yourself to be dragged into their renewed desperate mission of wrecking havoc on our communities in the guise of seeking elusive political mandate.

Vote APC, vote GYB/CEDO for consolidation. Remember to shun violence as you go about your civic responsibility.

Senator Yakubu Oseni
