Nwosu vs Ihedioha: appeal court nullifies Ihedioha’s argument

A five man panel of the Court of appeal has dismissed a cross appeal by the Governor of Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha.

The governor’s legal team led by Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN) had sought to stall the hearing of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu’s appeal against the ruling of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, on the grounds of a separate ruling of the Supreme Court on an entirely different matter.

The panel led by Justice Nimpa, after taking submissions from counsels to His Excellency Ugwumba Uche Nwosu and his major rival in the last election, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, allowed the arguments to proceed, thereby, nullifying the arguments of Ihedioha’s counsels, seeking for the matter to be struck out prematurely.

Justice Nimpa however reserved judgment on the substantive arguments of PDP’s Ihedioha to a later date.
