…this rebuttal is aimed at refuting the claim made by Al-Mustapha Emem Edoho as well as putting the record straight on what really transpired at the council’s boss residence on 19th November, 2019 in Esit Eket local government area.
It was an evening of mixed feelings to the social media users ad intra and ad extra Esit Eket local government area as they were fed by the Facebook post with the caption ” A FORMER COUNCILLOR IN ESIT EKET ESCAPES DEATH” authored by Al-Mustapha Emem Edoho.
Ordinarily, such post could have been ignored but due to the personality accused of masterminding the purported incident and for the negative effect it posed to the public, there was no other option left than to make a clarified release to that effect.
For some weeks now, it had already been registered that, the propagandist of the post, Al-Mustapha Emem Edoho has been making serial posts on facebook whose aim was to attack and tarnish the name and image of Hon. Iniobong Robson, the Executive Chairman of Esit Eket and his administration for reasons being that, “the council boss has not paid him the #100,000 monthly allowance he promised him before he defected to PDP for over three (3) months now and has also been avoiding his phone calls. Also, he believes that, there is a group of people that castigate him on daily basis to the chairman hence the reason the man does not want to attend to him. These speculations and assertions emanated without considering the fact that, there are steady pressures from other constituents on the chairman. What a selfish claim by a supposed social activist!
It could also be recalled that: this is the same man who had made some posts on both facebook and WhatsApp groups barely two (2) months ago, with captions such as, “Nte Afo Amenim ke Akpaniko Ke Etebe Anie Iwek”?(Do you believe in truth, that the executive chairman of Esit Eket, Hon. Iniobong Robson is powerful)? So just because things have not gone the way he always expected and perhaps, the situation of the moment in Mr. Iniobong Robson’s administration is not favorable to him, he resorted to a media attacks supervened by incessant allegations and character assassination of the executive chairman of Esit Eket and it’s demeaning of his person who claims to be a social crusader.
In recapitulation: his last mischievous facebook post, where the personality of the council helmsman was atrociously tainted opined,
“A gang of notorious cult group from neighboring Calabar South in Cross River State almost killed a woman activist and Politician in Esit Eket in total contravention of international conventions on the Right of women and end to violence against women as recognized by the United Nations convention.
The victim of this heinous crime and barbaric act is Hon. Agnes Akwaowo, immediate former councillor of Ward 3 in Esit Eket LGA of Akwa ibom state. The victim was completely rendered naked and maimed by the dare-devil cult group and attack dogs of the Esit Eket local government boss, Hon. Iniobong Robson.
The sins of this helpless victim is demanding for good Governance and accountability in Esit Eket”.
It could be recalled that, on the 19th day of November, 2019, Esit Eket PDP chapter women meeting was convened on the instance of the chapter woman leader, Mrs. Grace Itama at the executive chairman’s residence in Abe-Ekpi, Esit Eket local government area to dialogue and as well brainstorm on how Esit Eket women are going to participate in the forthcoming women’s empowerment program in the state spearheaded by Mrs. Martha Udom that will take place in Uyo on 28th November, 2019.
Note: The chairman’s wife, Mrs. Maria-Therese Robson was only there to provide the venue and logistics for her women. And at the time of the incident, the executive chairman of Esit Eket was already out of town for official duty. Again, there was no man in the women’s meeting apart from the chairman’s wife driver and the driver that drove the vice chairman’s wife to the venue. Thus, during the meeting, the two drivers were outside the premises. So there was no connection between the executive chairman and the women’s meeting that took place at his residence. Therefore, accusing the council boss of sending cultists from Calabar South to go to Esit Eket and attack the aforementioned “woman” is quite sacarstic and capricious.
Howbeit, on several phone calls made with those who were present in the meeting and from the investigations secretly carried out to ascertain how true the facebook post made by Al-Mustapha Edoho was, it all revealed that, the said Hon. Agnes Akwaowo who happened to be the former councillor before coming for the women meeting had earlier attended a meeting in her community (Edo) and she had already drank to stupor and got intoxicated in her community meeting before managing to attend the women’s meeting.
The lady who was in the meeting further revealed and I quote, “please nobody should mind what Emem Edoho posted on facebook. Hon. Agnes Akwaowo came to the meeting very drunk and when she stood up to talk, with what she drank smelling everywhere, she made a funny statement which made everybody in the meeting laugh in reaction; it’s not that we were mocking her rather, the statement she made was funny so everybody just laughed. When she realized that everybody in the meeting were laughing, she perhaps felt ashamed and started reacting by asking, “what are you people laughing at?” And she was staggering while standing to talk. When she could no longer continue, coupled with the influence of alcohol in her, she now went outside and striped herself half naked with only pant and bra. So having sensed that she had gone to far, perhaps to implicate the chairman’s wife, the First Lady now asked some women to go and talk to her and help her wear the clothes she removed. In fact, it was an ugly scene as the driver of the chairman’s wife only managed to drive out of the gate because she blocked the gate so that nobody could drive out”.
From the eye witness explanation above, one can simple deduce Al-Mustapha Edoho only used the anodyne incident that took place during women’s meeting to achieve his obsessed, virulent and demeaned media attacks against the man who has served and rendered help to him on several occasions.
It’s on records that, Hon. Iniobong Robson’s leadership has made enormous achievements on human empowerment, development and employment, and these can not be underemphasized. As a matter of fact, he has performed beyond expectations with the limited funds at his disposal and his achievements as Esit Eket council chairman will stand the test of time.
It is quite unfortunate that the people he is staking everything for do not appreciate him. It is unfortunate that, even those he had denied himself of some executive entitlements to help do not see and appreciate him. It’s unfortunate that, the people of Esit Eket seem not to see and understand what Iniobong Robson has put in for them in future and until then, they will never appreciate the man, Hon. Iniobong Robson.
