Kaduna State Governor signed N259.25 Billion 2020 Budget

Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has signed 2020 Kaduna State Budget.

The Governor who was happy with the budget said,

“I am delighted to sign the 2020 Budget of Kaduna State.”.

N259.25 Billion were approved the State House of Assembly, and signed into law.

According to the acting Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Barabe said, “The approved budget size is N259.25bn. This is higher than the N257.9bn we proposed when Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, in her capacity as Acting Governor, presented the draft 2020 budget to the Kaduna State House of Assembly on 15 October 2019.

The 2020 budget prioritizes capital expenditure at 71% (N184.1bn) while recurrent expenditure is pegged at N75.14bn.

Spending on Education, Health, Infrastructure and Housing takes N144bn, out of the N189bn capital budget. This reflects our commitment to the social sector, our determination to develop human capital, improve social welfare and promote economic development.

We shall do our best to implement this budget to improve access to Education and Health, raise the wellbeing of our people and enhance the prospects for jobs and investments. This budget reinforces our governance agenda to promote equal opportunity and make lives better by Putting People First.

On behalf of the executive branch, I wish to express our gratitude to the Speaker and the Honourable Members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly for their consistent hard work in scrutinising the budget. This is the fifth budget that our legislators have passed in the preceding year, enabling the executive to implement the budget from 1 January of every year. This alignment of the fiscal and calendar years is now a tradition in Kaduna State.
