Hell was let loose yesterday night in the metropolitan city of Benin, the Edo State Capital, as thugs imported by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, for the purported ‘Mega Rally’ invaded the state, shooting and injuring several youths and party members.
The hoodlums who portrayed Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu’s desperation for power, were through the attack, reacting to the news of the cancellation of the rally by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, citing ‘overriding internal security interests’.
The youths who sustained varying degrees of injuries were rushed to Central Hospital, Benin City, where they are were immediately attended to by doctors on night duty.
An eyewitness, who spoke to journalists said the thugs took over the Benin Airport Road in blatant disregard to the law and its enforcement agencies, shooting sporadically, forcing residents to take to their heels.
The leader of the medical team at the Central Hospital, however, said they were doing everything within their power to save the victims, revealing that some of the victims were critically ill and would require the grace of God to stabilise them.
