Breaking: Convicted Orji Kalu seek for Post Conviction bail over poor medical equipment in the prison to handle his health condition

A saving Senator and the former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Kalu, has demanded for post conviction bail over poor health status.

The senator was on December 5th 2019 convicted of N7.1bn fraud and sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment.

Kalu, who is presently serving 12 years imprisonment was said to have send an application on Tuesday, to informed the court that he is seriously battling with health challenges, that their are no medical equipment in the prison to handle his health condition.

He said since the offences he was convicted of were bailable offences, the court should free him while he challenges his conviction by Justice Mohammed Idris at the Court of Appeal.

He further said that as the Chief Whip of the Senate and the senator representing Abia North Senatorial District the interest of his constituents would be in jeopardy if he was kept behind bars.
