The Supreme Court on Wednesday declared Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai as the authentic winner of the 2018 Gubernatorial election that hold in the State. The court affirmed a decision of the Court of Appeal which earlier dismissed a petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to challenge the election victory of the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC).
Delivering the judgment Wednesday, the Supreme Court in a unanimously come to conclusion that PDP and its candidate failed to prove the issues raised in their allegations and subsequently dismissed the petition.
The PDP and its candidate, Isah Ashiru, had asked the court to set aside the decisions of the Court of Appeal and the Kaduna State tribunal which both affirmed Mr El-Rufai’s elections
Mr El-Rufai had been declared winner of the Kaduna state Gubernatorial elections with a votes of 1, 045, 427, defeating Mr Ashiru of PDP with over 200,000 votes.
