Despite illegal detention of Dasuki for 4 years, and Sowore for months, Fayemi said Buhari is an apostle of rule of law

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has described President Muhammad Buhari as an apostle of Rule of law.

Recalled that Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd) was detained since 2015 when President Muhammad Buhari come to power, despite ordered from the court to set him free, after he meet bail conditions, President Muhammad refuse to listen to court injunction, rather he remain silent on the issue.

While Mr Sowore was arrested for somes months ago and detained by the DSS for allegedly calling for a revolution. He was also refused freedom despite an order of the court granting him bail, after meeting bail conditions. How was free and rearrested next day he regain freedom.

Their detention was condemned by many Nigerians, civic groups and the international community.

Both men were freed yesterday, by the order of the President, after US put pressure on President Muhammad Buhari.

Speaking on the development, Fayemi said President Buhari’s intervention had again confirmed that he was a man who adhere to “due process and an apostle of the rule of law.”

He said this in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, on Tuesday.

He said “Again, the President has demonstrated that he is the father of the nation through his intervention that led to the release from detention of the two prominent citizens,

“The President, by this intervention, has reinforced the fact that nobody is deemed guilty of an offence until pronounced guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction,” Mr Fayemi added.

“This is good for the country. We congratulate Col Dasuki and Sowore and salute the President for the fatherly gesture.”
