What You Must Know about Dekina Local Government

Dekina is a local government area in Kogi State with administrative headquarters in the town of Dekina. Dekina local government area is in the eastern senatorial district of Kogi State otherwise known as Kogi East Senatorial Zone alongside Ankpa, Bassa, Ibaji, Ofu, Idah, Igalamela-Odolu, Olamaboro and Omala local government area.

Dekina local government area also forms a federal constituency alongside Bassa local government area.

Dekina local government area covers an area of 2,461 km².

With a population of 260,968 as at the 2006 national population census, Dekina local government area is the largest local government area by population in Kogi State, after Okene local government area.

Dekina local government area is bounded in the east by Ankpa local government area, in the west by Ajaokuta, Omala and Ankpa local government areas, in the north by Bassa local government area and in the south by Ofu local government area, all in the same Kogi State.
