Understanding the three categories of F35 Fighter Jets and their functions

F 35 lightning II is a stealth fighter jet developed by Lockheed Martin in the United States. It development project is the most expensive military project ever undertaken by the United States military, the total cost of the project is estimated to be $1.5 trillion for it’s 55 years lifespan.
F 35 jets come in three models each designed for a specific military arm of the United States. The F35A is used by the United States Airforce, it is a conventional fighter jet requiring long runway for take off and landing. F35B is used by the United States Marines, it is capable of short take off and vertical landing. F35C is used by the United States Navy, it is a carrier based fighter jet, its take off is catapult assisted and it’s landing is assisted by an arresting recovery system, it is therefore capable of landing and taking off from a specialized aircraft carrier runway.
F35 is very expensive with a single F35A model costing $82.4 million, F35B costing $108 million and F35C costing $103million. The United States ordered 2,663 F35s and the delivery is scheduled until 2037 with the planes expected to be operational until 2070. So far, a total of 455+ F35s have been developed.
The fighter is nicknamed “Panther” by the United States Airforce pilots while in the Israeli Airforce, it is called “Adir” Hebrew word meaning, the great one.
Israel is the first country in the world to use an F35 in combat, the Israeli Airforce used a unknown number of F35 fighters to attack Iranian military assets in Syria.
The US expelled Turkey from the F35 project after the Turkish government acquired a number of S 400 anti-aircraft missile batteries from Russia.
