The governor of Imo State, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma has approached the federal government for the refund of over 32 Billion Naira spent by the Rescue Mission administration of His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha in the construction and maintenance of federal roads in the State.

The governor made this known after a visit to the Also Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he had a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, in which the refund of this money topped the agenda.

Imolites and other Nigerians of good conscience have showered praises on the governor for being focused on programs and interventions that are useful to the State and beneficial to the people of the State, instead of allowing himself to be distracted by unnecessary politicking and pettiness.

According to Chief Bertrand Njoku, a PDP chieftain from Nguru in Aboh-Mbaise LGA of the State; “I think the governor has taken the right step and he must be commended. The Okorocha administration spent a lot of money, constructing and maintaining several ‘Trunk A’ roads, and this went a long way in saving huge sums of money for the State. What this governor has done is the right thing, and I pray, the Federal Government responds very fast by refunding the money to the State to enable him commence his development vision for the State.”

Recall that in his eight years as the governor of Imo State, His Excellency Senator Rochas Okorocha constructed and rehabilitated several hundreds kilometers of federal roads that were almost impassable, in order to make lives more comfortable for the people of the State. He also constructed other federal projects in the State, which cost billions of Naira. Some of these projects include; the Nigerian Police Force State headquarters, Nigerian Correctional Service headquarters, Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport and several other projects, including hospitals and police academy. Apart from enhancing development and increasing federal presence in the State, these projects went a long way in saving funds for the State.
