University College Ibadan Hospital Commences (IVF) Procedure

Today, the University College Hospital Ibadan commenced the In Vito Fertilisation
(IVF) procedure with five patients.

The Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo had said at the beginning of his tenure in 2019 that he would put all the needed equipment, facilities and personnel in place to ensure that the IVF Center commenced operation.

The (IVF) building was first commissioned in 2011 and was recommissioned in February 2019, yet without the required equipment, facilities and personnel in place for effective take off.

However, by 9.25am today, the Prof. Sina Oladokun-led fertility team commenced the first procedure which lasted till about 10.00am. In the words of the team leader, “IVF procedure has commenced in UCH, no going back again, we just started with the first batch of five patients and procedures were very successful, Nigerians can heave a sigh of relief now. The management under Prof. Otegbayo has given us the necessary impetus. We are happy to say we have started. No going back on it”.
