IRON LADY STEPS ASIDE

My Lord, the President of of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Adamu Bulkachuwa, CFR, bows out of office having reached the mandatory retirement age of 70.

Justice Bulkachuwa who goes down in history as the first female President of the Appellate Court, initiated so many projects during her six years in office.

Among them are the remodeling of the Lagos Division, completion of Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Asaba, Awka, Kano, Ilorin, Yola and Gombe Divisions.

She also has to her credit, the establishment of the E-Court and the Appellate Mediation Centres cited in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt Divisions of the Court of Appeal.

One of the indelible controversies the retiring Appeal Court President will live with is the 2019 presidential election panel where she was forced to step down since her husband is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Congratulations His Lordship. Live long. Happy retirement.
