Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala appointment as a member of the South African Economic Advisory Council, confirmed

I congratulate Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her recent appointment as a member of the South African Economic Advisory Council by South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa.

NOI’s appointment was confirmed yesterday after the meeting of the council and she joins other members of the council, who were inaugurated late last year to chart a healthy course for the South African economy. President Cyril Ramaphosa heads the council.

Other members of the council are; Professor Benno Ndulu, a former governor of the Bank of Tanzania, Mzukisi Qobo, a professor of international Business, Dan Rodrik, a professor of international political economy, Mariana Mazzucato, a professor in the Economics of Innovation and Public Value, Mamello Matikinca-Ngwenya, chief economist at the First National Bank, Dr. Renosi Mokate, a development economist, Dr. Kenneth Creamer, a professor of Macroeconomics, Pro Alan Hirsch, Prof Tania Ajam, Dr. Grove Steyn, Wandile Sihlobo, Liberty Mncube, Fiona Tregenna, Haroon Bhorat, Ayabonga Case, Vusi Gumede, Dr. Thabi Leoka and Prof Imraan Valodia.

Okonjo-Iweala is a well respected economist and technocrat, whose two terms as Minister of Finance in Nigeria are adjudged as the best since the return of democracy. She comes with a wealth of experiences garnered over her services at various international organizations.
