Senator Oseni Apologized to Constituency over suspension of Ebe Festival

Fellow constituents,

I humbly appeal to you not find government’s directives for suspension of Ebe festival as an affront to your freedom of association or worship.

The decision by the government to discourage large gathering at this material time is to forestall the spread of the global ravaging pandemic (COVID-19) which has surreptitiously crept into our nation for some weeks now.

I appeal to everyone of you to maintain calmness and support any measure adopted by the government to save our country from the disease. The government is aware that cultural activities like Ebe festival is one of the unique ways in which people identify themselves but humanity needs to be saved from damnation before cultures can be preserved.

I specially appreciate our religious leaders for their proactive and patriotic steps in heeding to the directives of the government especially the Sayyidat Hajiya Ummuhani, who in her wisdom, suspended the annual Maulid celebration among the Muslims in Ebiraland.

As we collectively strive to overcome this challenge, it is my fervent prayer that we will all live long to celebrate more of the festivals or activities which the strange disease has deprived us of.

Thanks for your understanding.
