Kwara government delivers new fire truck to Offa

Kwara State Government on Friday delivered a brand new fire truck to the Offa Fire Station, barely three days after the Owode market inferno in which traders lost many properties.

The fire truck was delivered to the Olofa of Offa Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi (Esuwoye II) by the Director of Kwara State Fire Service Waheed Yakub.

The gesture came barely 76 hours after Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq pledged to take immediate steps to curtail such events in the future.

AbdulRazaq, who was represented during a visit to the ancient town by Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, also commiserated with the Olofa and the victims of the Owode fire incident which occurred on Tuesday.

The Olofa commended the government for the swift action, saying he was not surprised at the action of the Governor who the monarch described as a man of his words who is always after the happiness of his people.

The monarch also thanked the Government for allocating a new fire station for the State Fire Service in Offa.

Yakub, for his part, said the government is poised to improve the quality of fire service in the state.
