Goodluck Jonathan’s Government Funded 2nd Niger Bridge, Not President Buhari’s
~Reno Omokri

Recently, an oft repeated misconception about the Second Niger Bridge has been recirculated in the media by Buharists. It is being touted as a General Buhari project and that ex President Jonathan did not care enough to build it. This is a lie

The Second Niger Bridge is NOT a project of General Buhari’s admin

The contract was awarded to Julius Berger in 2014 as a PERSONAL INITIATIVE of ex President Jonathan.

The contract was based on a Public-Private Partnership arrangement

The total contract sum for the Second Niger Bridge was ₦117 billion of which the FG is to contribute ₦30 billion (28%). 72% was to be raised by Julius Berger.

BEFORE LEAVING OFFICE, Jonathan, through the SURE-P scheme, paid ₦21.2 billion.

Funds released for Second Niger Bridge under Buhari’s admin came from money CONTRACTED for the purpose by Jonathan’s govt, via Sovereign Wealth Fund.
There was NOTHING General Buhari could do to stop it.
He would have stopped it if he could!
