The Executive Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Hon Frank Archibong, Paramount Ruler of Eket, HRM E. C. D. Abia and other major stakeholders of the area has constituted a committee headed by a legal guru, Barrister Akpadiaha Ebitu, to put into motion a mechanism aimed at checking the spread of the dreaded coronavirus, COVID 19 in Eket and environs.
The Committee which has Hon Ekanem Willie as Vice Chairman and Mr Emmanuel Sammy as secretary will ensure that the necessary decimals needed to curtail the disease from having a foot and spreading in Eket and environs must be put in place within the shortest possible time.
Terms of reference of the committee includes but not limited to aggressive media and door to door sensitization and awareness campaign on how not to be infected with the disease, generation and provision of palliatives, in various forms, to residents of Eket and environs, as a mechanism to cushion the effects of the economic lockdown, reaching out to our brothers and sisters within Nigeria and in diaspora on ways to garner support for total eradication of the disease from Nigeria and to fashion out an economic blueprint to jump start the economy of Eket after the war.
The committee solicits intellectual, financial and material contributions from members of the public through the committee Chairman from Friday April 24, 2020.
The war against COVID 19 in Akwa Ibom State must be won. The Oil rich city of Eket is an international gateway. We must, collectively give it a clean bill by pushing the strange virus away from our domain.
