I was amazed yesterday, A pregnant dwarf came to our clinic with her sister saying she was due for delivery.She pleaded that we should operate her with no deposit and she doesn’t know when to pay but promised to pay later.
I laughed and asked, no deposit at all? She said ‘yes’, when will you pay? I asked again, She said ‘i don’t know yet sir’. Ah! I looked at her and said I’m sorry I can’t. So she started weeping and refused to leave the hospital compound. I went back to her to ask if she registered in any hospital, she said ‘yes’ Oh good, go to where you registered. I exclaimed. They sent me away, she replied.
So I pitied her but I can’t do it for free. A lot of things are attached, Her husband worked in Lagos as an okada man, since Okada is no longer permitted in Lagos, the husband stopped coming home and he changed his phone number. I looked at her again and again and I said “I am sorry I can’t help”.
As Soon as I stepped into the office, A patient came in and asked why the person was crying outside so I told her. She then said “Dr , can we carry this burden together? I said yes, why not.
I was surprised by her readiness to help.
Subsequently, everything went well.
