Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has announced a personal donation of N10m to support the fight against coronavirus in the state.
Engineer Sule made this known while delivering an opening speech during the monthly State Executive Council meeting, holding at the Government House, on Thursday.
The Governor said the EXCO will deliberate on the challenges confronting the state and how members of the State Executive Council and other political appointees, can also contribute towards the fight against the pandemic.
Engineer Sule used the opportunity to update the people of the state on efforts to contain the pandemic.
He disclosed that the state is in receipt of 46 test results yesterday, out of 50 sent to the Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC), with all the results recording negative, while the remaining four is being awaited.
The Governor commended the work carried out by the committee headed by Professor Isa Mohammed Kida, which carried out a baseline survey for all public primary and secondary schools in the state.
“He has done a fantastic job by carrying out a thorough review what is happening in both our public primary and secondary schools.
“He has told us the truth about the situation of our schools and as executive, we have to take a decision straightway and what we need to do,” the Governor said.
Engineer Sule expressed satisfaction that already, the State Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Fati Jimeta, has already commenced reached out to UNESCO, to come out with a sector plan for the implementation.
The Governor then called on members of the executive council to take the report of the committee seriously, towards making sure that government carry out the stated recommendations.
The State Executive Council thereafter, held a one minute silence in honour of the late assembly member, Hon. Adamu Suleiman Ibrahim.
