COVID-19: Nasarawa records over 10 more new positive cases

Governor Abdullahi A. Sule of Nasarawa has announced thirteen new positive cases of coronavirus in the state.

The Governor stated this during a COVID-19 Press Briefing held at the Government House in Lafia, Friday.

While appreciating the people of Nasarawa Local Government for their cooperation, Governor Sule announced an extension of the total lockdown in the local government for another period of three days.

He thanked security agencies, the media and all other stakeholders as well as the entire people of the state for their solidarity in the fight against the COVID-19 scourge.

According to Governor Sule, “Out of the total number of samples sent to NCDC, 74 results were received and as at yesterday, the state had 12 positive cases and today 13 additional positive cases were confirmed in the state”

From Nasarawa town, four positive results were found and all the four turned out to be contacts traced to the deceased lawmaker.

The Governor further called on the people of Nasarawa to cooperate with the extension of the lockdown in order ease the contact tracing of more suspected cases and cushion community spread of the virus.

On the issue of the State Assembly members, the Governor said all the members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly whose results have so far been released are all negative.

Governor Abdullahi Sule who appealed for more cooperation and support of the people of Nasarawa State said the essence of the restrictions put in place by government at the state and federal levels is to curtail spread of the pandemic.

“Our cases are from the contacts of the deceased lawmaker and returnees from high risk states”. Engr Sule added.
