UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League Resumption: UEFA Releases New Modalities For Restart.

UEFA President,Aleksander Ceferin has confirmed the resumption date for Europe elite competitions, the Uefa champions league and Uefa europa league for both the men and women.

The Champions league which was suspended in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic is all set to resume on the 7th and 8th of August with the remaining legs of the round of 16 matches to be concluded in stadias across Portugal and some in Germany.

Manchester city still have their home leg to play against Real Madrid and Chelsea are away to Bayern Munich in an all anticipated tie, Napoli are also away to Barcelona while Juventus are home to Lyon.

From the 12th-15th The men’s UCL quarter final ties would be held while on the 18th and 19th would be for semi-final ties . The Estadio da luz home to Benfica would stage the UCL final on the 23rd of August, which initially was supposed to be hosted in Istanbul,Turkey but they will now host the finals next year. It is yet to be decided if matches are going to be held at home grounds or at neutral venues and also if spectators are to be allowed or not.

The Europa league would also resume on the 5th of August with the remaining legs of the knockout stages to be played up until the 6th of August. Gdansk, the Initial final host would now host it next year. From the 10th-11th the UEL quarter finals would be held,16th and 17th of August would have the UEL semi finals take place and finally the 21st of August would have the UEL finals.

All UEL postponed first knockout matches like the match between Inter Milan and Getafe , Sevilla vs Roma would have their matches played as a single leg ,i.e no more home and away fixtures.

The Women’s champions league matches would take place between the 21st and 30th of August with the final held at San Sebastian.
