Gov. Zulum Meets Finance Minister Over FG’s Plan to Resettle IDPs in Borno


Governor Babagana Umara Zulum on Thursday visited Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed in Abuja.

The leaders discussed interventions by the Federal Government in support of resettlement of internally displaced persons in Borno state.


Zulum was accompanied by the Chief Whip in the House of Representatives, Representative Mohammed Tahir Monguno and the Governor’s Adviser and Coordinator for Sustainable Development, Partnerships and Humanitarian Support, Dr Mairo Mandara.


Also part of the meeting were Permanent Secretaries of Finance, Dr. Mahmud Isa Dutse and Special Duties, Mr. Aliyu Ahmed.

The discussions was held at the finance headquarters in Abuja.

President Buhari had in December 2019, approved the construction of 10,000 resettlement houses for displaced persons in Borno.


In preparation for implementation of the presidential approval, Zulum was at the Federal Ministry of Finance where he attended a meeting that was attended by Ministers of Finance, Zainab S. Ahmed, Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouk and the MD, Northeast Development Commission (NEDC), Mohammed Goni Alkali.


The meeting coordinated by the Finance Minister, was attended by then
permanent secretary for special duties, Kyari Dikwa and some top government officials involved in humanitarian issues were in attendance.
